The Connected Past conference to be held in Coimbra, Portugal, 17-19 September 2025 is a venue that aims to build bridges between divergent disciplinary skillsets: the quantitative and computational side of network analysis and the deep qualitative reflection that is the core of our field. This conference brings together scholars applying network analysis to a wide range of archaeological and historical problems. Without a fixed thematic focus, this series of papers illustrates the versatility of network approaches across periods, regions, and datasets. Whether grounded in material culture, settlement patterns, trade, communication, or social organization, network analysis offers a lens through which to explore connectivity, structure, and change in the archaeological and historical records.
The conference (17-19 Sept.) is preceded by a network analytical workshop led by Tom Brughmans (16-17 Sept, limited seats).
The 2025 event is organised by Joel Santos, Tânia Casimiro, Ricardo Costeira da Silva, and Carlos Faísca.
